RONALD NICHOLAS LEITCH It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ron on October 29, 2008 following a courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory, Gigi will be deeply missed by his wife, Louisa who was by his side; daughters April, and Brenda (Brian), sons Christopher (Judy) and Derrick (Debra); grandchildren Jensen, Coby, and Abigail; brother Jim (Irene), nephews Matthew, Mark, Michael, Terry, Rick, and Craig; nieces Erin and Patricia, along with many other family and friends. Ron was predeceased by his mother, Anne; father, John; and sister, Julie. Born April 25, 1935, Ron spent his early years in Simcoe, Ontario before moving to his grandparents' farm in La Broquerie, Manitoba where he lived for several years. He then moved to Winnipeg's North End, finishing his schooling at St. John's. After enjoying many years as a Free Press carrier, Ron worked 22 years at Federal Grain, then Deluxe Messenger, retiring from Barber and McKeown. In 1955, Ron met the love of his life Louisa, and the two were married in 1961. He was a deeply devoted husband and father for 47 years, spending many hours improving our homes with his gifted carpentry skills, and redesigning the yards, but his deepest passion was spending time with his family and caring for us. The family would like to thank the many family and friends for all their love, support and prayers during our most difficult time. We also wish to extend a thank-you to Dr. Piotr Czaykowski, his nurse, Denise, and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, HSC; and for the support from the Home and Palliative Care Units. A special thank-you to Ken, our pharmacist, who guided us through these difficult months. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Ron's life will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Avenue, The Reverend Diane Guilford officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or St. Stephen's Church.
