FLORA MACDONALD Flora Mae MacDonald passed away peacefully on October 16, 2008. Flora Mae was born in Greenfield, Ontario on June 6, 1916. She came to Winnipeg in November 1927. She completed her education at St. Mary's School, after which she went to work at the Municipal Hospitals, from there she went to Misericordia Hospital and worked in admitting and on the switchboard. Flora Mae then went to work for the Federal Government at the Air Force Base where she was a supervisor in the Communications Department. She received a commendation from Queen Elizabeth for dedication to her work. Flora Mae was a devout Catholic and lived by her faith. Flora Mae is survived by many cousins in Winnipeg and in eastern and western Canada. She had many lifelong friends. She will be missed by them all and especially cousins Eugenie Bowes who has been her mainstay for several years and special cousin John Rokosh. Prayers were held on Monday, October 20, 2008, 7:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home. Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, October 21, 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg. We would like to thank the 3rd Floor staff of Oakview Nursing Home for their excellent care and compassion.
