KATHRINE BITTNER (nee BIAS) Peacefully on November 1, 2008, Kathrine Bittner, left our world for a much better place. Kathrine was born in Poland on October 15, 1921 and immigrated to Canada on May 18, 1927 with her mother Annie and father Peter Bias and two of her siblings. Kathrine grew up in the north end and was married to Vernon on August 28, 1943. She became a Canadian citizen on November 22, 1956. She was predeceased by her husband Vern of 59 years, daughter Joni Daman, and brother Mike. Left to mourn are her sisters Millie Stewart (Earl), Ollie Cudmore (Jim), Anne Damon (Cliff), son Kerry Bittner (Sandra), and son-in-law Trevor Daman. She was blessed with four grandchildren Michael Daman, Kurt Bittner, Clayton Bittner (Stacey), Krista Schaan (Craig) and four great-grandchildren Brayden and Eric Schaan and Cameron and Megan Bittner. Over her lifetime, Kathrine worked at a number of different jobs, always being dedicated to doing the best job possible. She and Dad enjoyed their long retirement years and loved to go on drives in the country and to visit friends, Skinners for a hot dog was always a favourite stop. She will be greatly missed by all her family. In lieu of flowers, please support the Siloam Mission or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Prayers for Kathrine will be said on Wednesday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. also at the church. Private family interment to follow at a later date.
