LIONEL PIERRE JOSEPH LAVOIE May 17, 1941 - November 1, 2008 On November 1, 2008 Lionel Lavoie - husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend passed away at the age of 67 after a long struggle with lung cancer. Lionel was born and raised in Laurier, Manitoba. After moving to Winnipeg he met and married Leona Friesen, the love of his life. Lionel was a mechanic by trade gaining the respect and admiration of his customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. If there was anyone who could fix a car, it was Lionel. He enjoyed carpentry and was always happiest working in the garage or building something. If you needed help Lionel was always there, toolbox in hand. His pride and joy was his family. He will be missed by his loving wife and soulmate of 45 years, Leona (Friesen); daughter Celeste Chapman (Dave Fitzpatrick); son Cory (Bryanne); two grandsons, Keaton and Christian; sisters, Marguerite Lavoie (Greg Dunwoody), Marie-Alice (William) Grassick, Francoise (Sylvester) Kowalchuk and many aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lionel was predeceased by his son Tim , father Louis Lavoie, mother Berthe Catterall and his brother Norbert Lavoie. We will miss your laugh, your smile, your boisterous voice, and your wonderful stories. Thanks for the memories. Now your suffering is over, your work is done. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Lionel's memory. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue.
