ARTHUR WILLIAM (BILL) OAKLEY Peacefully, with family by his side, Bill passed away on Monday, October 6, 2008 at the Riverview Health Centre after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Peggy, granddaughter Tiffany Soucy, his extended family Linda and Rick Santa, Jennifer and Brian Rudman, grandchildren Ryan (Shirley), Sheena (Hugo), Jeffery (Joanna) and great-grandson Kieran. Bill is also survived by his sister Alma Hawes and brother Ken Oakley (wife Val), sister-in-law Marie Oakley, son-in-law Bryan Soucy and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter Dawn Soucy, his parents Lucy and Arthur Oakley and brother Charlie Oakley. Bill was born on the family farm in Canora, Saskatchewan, September 25, 1922. He spent his early years in Mikado, Saskatchewan. He was a proud veteran of the Second World War and served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons in Italy, Germany and Holland. Bill was employed by CNR Signals Department for 37 years retiring in January, 1986. He enjoyed his many years of Masonic Association. He was a Past Master of King Edward Masonic Lodge #93, a member of Charleswood Red River #184. He was a Past Patron of Jephthah Chapter #22 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of Manitoba, Order of the Eastern Star and a General Grand Chapter Committee Member (Fraternal Relations). At Bill's request cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date.
