Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIVY MARCELLA FYFE Ivy passed away peacefully Sunday evening, November 2, 2008, at St. Boniface Hospital. She will be sadly missed by her children: Lynne (Lindsay), Sharon (Jim), Doug (Bev), Ralph (Wendy); and her grandchildren: Stewart, Thomas, Richard, Janice, Jenna, and Andrew. She is also survived by her sister Audrey (Robert); sisters-in-law: Gaynor Managh (Bob) and Ruby May, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ian and her brother Herb May in 2005. Ivy was born in Balmoral, Manitoba, and spent her formative years in Onanole, Manitoba. She happily served her country during the Second World War with the Canadian Women's Army Corps in Vancouver. She married Ian in 1948 and put down deep roots in St. Vital. Along with raising her family, Ivy was active in Regent's Park United Church (now St. Mary's Road United Church), Glenwood Community Club, St. Boniface Hospital Gift Shop, Scottish Country Dancing, the Scottish Pavilion at Folklorama, and square dancing at both the Leisure Centre and Greendell Community Club. Special comment has also to be made on Ivy as the ultimate figure skating fan. She established the first figure skating program at Glenwood and travelled across Canada to enjoy international skating competitions. Ivy is also remembered for how she treasured her family and many close friends, all of whom were a constant source of support and laughter over the years. Through her life Ivy loved many cats. Quincy was the most recent and was a great comfort and friend to the very end. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ivy's life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 6 in St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road, at the junction of St. Anne's and St. Mary's roads. The family would like to thank Dr. Myla Gabriel and the many departments of St. Boniface hospital for their care and attention over the years. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations in memory of Ivy may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6 or The Quagga Stray Cat Rescue, 970 St. Mary's Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 3R8. I was very sad to hear of the passing of your mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by everyone that knew her. I am so sorry that I was not able to attend her celebration of life, as I just heard of her passing. Ivy was the pillar of our neighborhood on Humboldt Ave. Every time I visited Winnipeg the first stop was always to see Mrs. Fyfe. I will miss those visits.
