KARI INGIMUNDUR OLAFSON On Friday, October 31, 2008, Kari passed away suddenly at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. Kari was predeceased by his loving wife Vala, his parents Tubba and Oli Olafson, his sister Vala Labossiere, brother-in-law Guy Labossiere and his brothers, Valdimar and Ragnar. Kari's memory will be cherished by his brother Gudjon (Rita); his children, Connie (Tony), Glenn (Natalie), Joan (Mel); grand-children, Angel, Alicia, Amanda, Jason, Jared, Amber; and great-granddaughter Rayne. Kari will also be missed by numerous cousins nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends. Kari's unique humour, personality and his bear hugs will be missed by all who knew him. Kari was born December 7, 1923 at the Narrows, Lake Manitoba. Kari married Vala (daughter of Helga and Fred Klein) September 7, 1946. Kari spent numerous winters fishing on Lake Manitoba and regaled his children with fishing stories about Cherry Island. Kari and Vala farmed at Lonely Lake and Chatfield. Kari enjoyed all sports and was an avid baseball player. Kari loved music and played his accordion and guitar for family gatherings and parties. Kari often spoke about his long and lasting friendship with Joe and Helen and family. The family wishes to thank the caring and wonderful staff at the Charleswood Care Centre, Winnipeg. The family also wishes to thank Ron Johnson for his care and support, especially during the last year. A graveside service will be held at Reykjavik Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2008; with a reception to follow at the Lake Manitoba Narrows Lodge. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Kari's memory may be made to the Charleswood Care Centre, Winnipeg. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
