Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARCEL CAMIEL CYRILLE VAN DE KERCKHOVE Marcel Camiel Cyrille Van De Kerckhove, also known to some friends as Buffalo of Lake Francis, MB passed away peacefully in his sleep November 1, 2008 at the age of 83. Born July 17, 1925 in St. Alphonse, MB, Marcel was predeceased by his mother Maria (1989), father Maurice (1972), sons Camille (1990), and Peter (2006). Marcel is survived by his sons Erik Marcel, Maurice Kristopher Leigh, Michael Devin Myles, step-sons Jonathan and Colin Levasseur as well as their mother Valerie Witham who has cared for Marcel for the past two years at his family home. He also leaves his sister Yvonne Ryback (Nick) and his favourite nephews Justin and Juan Pierre Levasseur who thought of Marcel as more of a father than an Uncle. Grandchildren Kim, Terry, Victoria, and Billy Jack, and great grandchildren David and Sara. Marcel started his working career at a young age with his father at Ogilvie Mills in Winnipeg. He then went on to Beggar Trucking driving to the east coast until the late 1960's. From there he moved to Grand Rapids where he was a milkman for a number of years, until he began his own business in the Recycling Industry where he stayed until his retirement in 2005. He leaves behind many business acquaintances including his favourite Main Man in the recycling industry Gary Leach of Salt Springs Island B.C. and his favourite truck hauler Gary Mailman of Nova Scotia. Marcel was also a much respected longtime member within the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, recently celebrating 42 years of sobriety. One Day at a Time Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2008 at Green Acres Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
