VERA DICKERSON (nee SHELBY) October 23,1925 - October 31, 2008 It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Vera Dickerson at the Grace Hospital. Vera was predeceased by her parents William and Amanda; brothers Laverne, Gregory, Donald and sister Barbara-Deloyne. Vera is survived by her son Rodd, granddaughters Nicole, Danielle and Shelby; brother William, sisters Blanche, Lillian, Marina (Howard), Lorna, Devona (John) and numerous nieces and nephews. Vera worked for 33 years at the Children's Hospital as a Pediatric Orthopedic Technician, a job she enjoyed and loved. Vera and her team were recognized by the medical community for developing a new procedure in the treatment of the patients in their care. She was also a member of the Army Reserves for eight years. After retirement she enjoyed doing her crafts, traveling, volunteering at her church and with the help of her two nieces was becoming a Casino Diva . A memorial service will be held at Knox United Church, 400 Edmonton St. on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the Doctors and nursing staff of the fourth floor at the Grace Hospital.
