Red leaves to mourn his wife of 61 years Adelaide, and son John (Dawna). Red was born and raised in the north end of the city. There he developed fond memories of playing his favorite sport - hockey. As a young man he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy, although he could not swim a stroke, and served his country overseas in 1944 - 1945. Red returned to Winnipeg after the Navy, met the love of his life Adelaide. They were married in 1947 and had one son John. He worked for K. Schwaltz and Sons Construction Co. and then became an employee of the Canadian Pacific Railway where after 36 years of service he retired. During the last 10 years he lovingly took care of Adelaide thru her illness and cherished every moment with her. A special thank you to the staff at Maples Personal Care Home who cared for him during the last four years and Bert Rocky and Maria for providing homemade treats and friendship. At Dad's request cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to any animal care facility of choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
