Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCISCO (FRANK) BARAO It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Francisco at his home in Portugal on October 27, 2008. Francisco's cherished memory continues to live on through the lives of his family including his best friend and wife Ricardina, daughter Cristina (Robert) Quon, son Tony (Rowenlynn) Barao, and his grandchildren - Justin, Ariel, Vasco, and Kayla. Francisco is survived by his mother Adelina Barao of Portugal, his three sisters and their families, as well as many in-laws and extended family members abroad. He was predeceased by his father Antonio Barao who was born in California, USA Francisco was born on March 15, 1939 in Faro, Portugal. He loved to tell stories about his days as a Military Police Officer in Portugal, and how he met his beautiful wife before being stationed in Germany. He married his soul mate in 1965 and began their life together in Schriesheim, Germany. In 1970 he immigrated to Canada with his beloved wife Ricardina, settling in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he lived out the balance of his life surrounded by his family and friends. Francisco enjoyed and took great pride in his work as a carpenter; he would never turn away the chance to build something for someone, and would be at your door in the early hours with tools in hand. Within his cultural community he could be found cheering for his favourite futbol team, a true soccer fanatic! He loved the ocean, and thus was drawn to the lakes of Winnipeg to satisfy his fishing passion. His keen wit and sense was a constant source of amusement for those among him. He found humour in playing jokes on his wife who he affectionately called Micas ; he would wink his big green eyes...as if to say I'm going to play now, always followed by a childlike chuckle. A celebration of Francisco's life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, Manitoba. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service to follow on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 10:00 am. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundations or a charity of your choice. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
