Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR IVY GALLOWAY It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Ivy Galloway. Eleanor was surrounded by her family at the time of her death on November 3, 2008 at the Grace Hospital. She leaves to mourn her four children, Leslie, Sharon, Jim (Arlene Forsyth) and John (Donna); and her beloved grandchildren, Katie, Danny and Alexis. She is survived by her brother Bob Lytle and sister-in-law Tooey, as well as many special nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband Cy, her brother Jack and her sisters, Beth, Irene, Winnie, Rex and Shirley. Mom was born and raised in Carman, Manitoba and had many fond memories of her life in Carman. Mom worked in a munitions factory in Ajax, Ontario during the Second World War. Eleanor moved to Kenora at the end of the Second World War where she married Cy and began her family. Eleanor and Cy lived in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Thunder Bay prior to moving back to Winnipeg in 1959. Mom was a full-time mother and homemaker until 1968 when she began working at the family business Cy's Tom Boy until 1994. Mom above all else loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. Their needs always came first. She loved to cook and there was always plenty of food at our house. She loved to bake cookies and banana bread for her grandchildren. She loved to hear about all of their activities; concerns and celebrated their successes. She was happy to be active and faced each day with courage and was incredibly resilient throughout her life. She was described as a gracious, elegant lady who was a great mother, wonderful and inspiring nannie, caring and supportive aunt, a loyal friend and neighbour. She will be fondly remembered as a humble, kind and compassionate woman. Family gatherings at the cottage in Kenora were special times. Mom loved music of all kinds and she had a beautiful voice. Mom was a very loyal Bomber fan, and loved the Winnipeg Jets. She loved to read and followed all political activities. Special thanks to Dr. Wayne Van Horne and Cathy, Dr. Brendan McDougall and Marlene for all their years of care. A particular thanks to Dr. Dan Martens and staff, especially Trina, Juchie, Sandra and Gianna on the Ward 3 South at the Grace Hospital. Also a special thank you to her neighbours of close to 50 years, Elsie and George Ostap for their support. Flowers gratefully declined. Mom has requested that all donations be made to Rossbrook House, 658 Ross Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3A 0M1. Memorial service will be held Friday, November 7, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
