SOPHIE HURDAL October 1, 1920 - November 5, 2008 Sophie passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Arborg Personal Care Home at the age of 88 years. She will be sadly missed by her longtime companion Louis Horvath; her children, Ronald (Karen), Norman (Phyllis) and Viewlan; grandchildren, Ehrich, Gerald, Lana, Melanie, Lorna, Marti, Aynslee, Monica and Brian. She also leaves to mourn, her great-grandchildren, Adrienne, Justine, Quinton, Kirstin, Kellsey, Leif, Faye, Angela, Braden, Kayla and Cole. Sophie, one of 15 children is survived by one sister, Annie and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Marshall, grandson Cameron and son-in-law Gerald. Some of Sophie's lifetime endeavours included operating the Rainbow Inn, the Texas Station, and the Riverton Motor Inn (Sophie's Place) as well as managing the Riverton Credit Union in the 1960s. The family would like to extend many thanks to the Arborg Personal Care Home staff and the Homecare staff for the exceptional care and compassion given to our Mom. A funeral service will be held at the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8. Interment will follow at the Riverton Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Arborg Personal Care Home or the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
