Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID WILLIAM YOUNG Suddenly on November 5, 2008, David William Young died at the age of 53. Dave will be profoundly missed by Tannis, his wife of 30 years, his children, Erica, Graeme, Janet and Fraser, his mother Doris Young, his sister Elizabeth Roberts (Ron Sampson), his brother Jeff Young (Lorraine Legal), his parents-in-law June and Jerry Trueman, Tannis' sisters and brother and their spouses, and all his nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by his father, Norman Young. Dave lived his life in Winnipeg and moved in many circles. Community was always important for Dave. In his youth he was active in Cubs, Scouts, school and church. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) while at the same time obtaining real life experience as a partner in Tony's Pizza. He continued his studies to become a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries and worked in the group insurance business for many years. Dave was a tireless worker for community development and social justice, supporting and providing leadership within numerous groups and organizations. In carrying out this work, Dave drew much energy from his participation in the life of the United Church in Meadowood and his involvement in Toastmasters. As husband, father and friend Dave was always interested in acquiring knowledge and helping you find new challenges and perspectives. He was a frequent visitor to the Winnipeg Public Library, loved a crossword, was a master of Dad jokes and enjoyed his time at Falcon Lake, especially the Falcon Sailing Club and West Hawk United Church. He will always be remembered and held close in our hearts for the way he listened, coached, inspired and rejoiced in the achievements of each of us who knew him. A celebration of Dave's life will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota Street. A reception will follow. You are invited to make a donation in Dave's memory to the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada, 3250 Bloor Street West, Suite 300, Toronto, ON M8X 2Y4; 1-800-465-3771; or donate on-line at www.united-church.ca.
