Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD ALLAN HAY Donald Allan Hay passed away after a courageous battle on October 29, 2008. Don was the youngest of five, born on the family farm on March 9, 1935. Don attended school at Sight Hill and Austin, then received his Diploma in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba, Class of 55'. Returning to Austin, Don farmed with his dad and brother Ted. In 1959, Don married his sweetheart Edie and they enjoyed 49 special years together. In 1966, he left the family farm and began a 32 and one half year career with the Assessment Branch. Don and Edie moved to Minnedosa in 1967 with their three children and were actively involved in the community. The family moved to Brandon in 1979 and returned to Minnedosa in 1986. Don enjoyed curling, golfing, fishing, camping, and fellowship with his friends. The Rotary Club was a favorite of his and he was especially honored to receive the Paul Harris Foundation Award from his fellow Rotarians. Don was predeceased by his parents George and Johann Hay, brothers Gordon, Morris and Ted, and sisters-in-law Edna and Audrey. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Edie, his children Donna Dowsett (Jim), Joan Leonard (Neil), Darren (Kelly); granddaughters Lee-Anne Adams (Peter), Casey (Kyle) and Amy Leonard, Melanie, Courtney, and Rachel Hay, great-granddaughter Hazel Adams, sister Mary Hotel (Glen), sister-in-law Grace Hay and many nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Don's life was held on Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Minnedosa Community Conference Centre. Rev. Lynette Miller and Elgin Hall presided. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Minnedosa Golf and Country Club, the Minnedosa Palliative Care Unit, Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB, or a charity of your choice. Let me linger in your memory Like a sunbeam on a wave; And I'll be your friend forever, Till we meet beyond the grave. Minnedosa Funeral Service was in care of arrangements.
