Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJULIA RAHN GIROUX Julia Rahn Giroux passed away suddenly and went to her eternal rest on November 5, 2008. She had faith in Christ Jesus and studied her Bible daily. Her favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Bernard (Ben) Giroux on April 13, 2006 whom she mourned deeply. Julia thought very highly of all her siblings. Annie, Mike, Pearl, Joe, John, Henry, and Albert have all predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a dear Nephew Albert as well as others in the Giroux family. She always had a big heart for family. Julia was born on November 1, 1919, to Martin and Sophia Rahn on the farm near Steenan, Saskatchewan where she grew up and helped her parents on the farm. In 1944, she was able to fulfill a childhood dream when she moved to Winnipeg where her sisters Annie and Pearl helped her adjust and enter hairdressing school. In her own words she said I was no blue ribbon prize winner but I made my living hairdressing. Julia worked fulltime as a hairdresser and she was grateful for the kindness of people in her life that helped her purchase the rooming house on Young Street where she was renting a single room. She met Ben on her way to work, instantly loved him, and waited for him. They were married on November 7, 1960 and they travelled life together for over 45 years. Julia and Ben made many lifelong friends on Young Street. They ran a tight ship but they were very fondly called Landlady and Landlord. All the tenants appreciated their concern and care for them. Many of these friendships have stood the test of time. Friends and family have stood by her throughout the years and especially after Ben's death. She will be dearly missed by all her extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. where her ashes will be laid to rest beside Ben's, the love of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice since Julia supported a variety of charities and had a heart for those in need. We have treasured our relationship with her and we will fondly remember her. - Elma and Martin Friesen. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
