HERMAN LEON GLASSCO Peacefully, on October 10, 2008 at 84 years of age passed away at Versa-care Centre in Toronto, Ontario. It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Herman. Herman is survived and greatly missed by his brother Leon (Alison) Glassco of Winnipeg, Manitoba and his niece and nephew Megan and Andrew Glassco (Leslie) and his grand-nieces, Jeremy and Jackie Glassco, all of Winnipeg. Herman was predeceased by his devoted companion of 26 years, Hazel Hilliker. Both of them enjoyed many happy memories and times together. Herman was a kind and generous man who was always there for his family and friends. He was born in Toronto on November 28, 1923 and attended the Jarvis School for Boys and spent many hours with his brother in their father's barber shop. The Elk Barber Shop located on Duncan and Queen Street West was a hub of activity for the Black Railway Porters and their families. Herman served in the army during the Second World War. He held many occupations over the years primarily as a mechanic. He immensely enjoyed Jazz and was an avid dancer and roller-skater. Herman always enjoyed the company of others and had an outgoing personality and he will be sadly missed. Farewell Herman dear brother and friend you are forever remembered. Cremation has taken place and a graveside interment was held on Monday, October 27 at St. John's Norway Cemetery and Crematorium 256 Kingston Road, Toronto, Ontario.
