***Change in date and time of service*** JOHN WILLIAM BABCHUK 1914 - 2008 John Babchuk passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home, in Winnipeg, Manitoba on the morning of Thursday, November 6, 2008. He was 94 years old. John was born in Fish Creek, Saskatchewan, the son of Wasyl Babchuk and Annie (Hanna) Rawlyk on February 14, 1914, and grew up there in a family of six children. Predeceased by his sisters, Minnie (Babchuk) Kindrat and Stephanie (Babchuk) Josz, and brother Mike Babchuk, survived by his sister Mary (Babchuk) Miller and brother Bill Babchuk. He was very close to his family. John is survived by his wife Jessie; five children, Barbara, Karyn, Richard, Marian and Cynthia, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Martin O'Connor, his first grandson is predeceased. John spent a large portion of his working life in Windsor and Toronto, Ontario, retiring in Winnipeg to be close to family and the prairies where he grew up. John was a kind compassionate easy-going man who led a simple life, always willing to help others with a smile and twinkle in his eyes. He was a very kind soul, so generous in spirit, who tred lightly on this earth. We will all miss him terribly.A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550

  • All the Wonderful memories of crossing the Ambassador Bridge and going to visit Uncle John, Auntie Jessie,Barbara,Karen, Richard, Marion & Cynthia. Every flavor of soda on ice, fresh milk from the cow & enough food to feed an army.
