ALMA MINNIE PEARSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alma Minnie Pearson on November 7, 2008 at the age of 88. Alma will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 62 years Harry; son Ken (Helen), grandchildren Andrea (Neil), Erin, Chris (Erika), great-grandchildren Jayme and Dustin; daughter Elizabeth (Bill), granddaughter Shannon (Grant), great-grandchildren Taya, Trista and Thane, grandson Doug (Stephanie), great-grandchildren Kenzie and Greyson; son Leslie (Jean and daughter Maria; son Kurt (Connie), grandchildren Tyler and Raelyn. Alma was born on March 13, 1920 in Teulon, MB to Harry and Christina Dicks. She was the youngest of 12 children. Alma was educated in Teulon, and as a young person sang in the choir and taught Sunday School at Teulon United Church. She married Harry on January 30, 1946 when he returned from overseas where he served with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons. In addition to her devotion to her family and farm life, Alma worked as a telephone operator and nurses aide at Hunter Memorial Hospital where she especially enjoyed the newborns. Alma's artistic talents included painting in pastels and oils, needle work, quilting, knitting and crocheting for family and community. Her other interests included gardening, fishing and visiting children and grandchildren. Alma's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, special friends and volunteers at Goodwin Lodge. A memorial service will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 with Rev. Patricia Baker officiating. In keeping with Alma's wishes cremation has taken place with interment with immediate family to follow at a later date. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
