CHARLES JOSEPH WHITFORD-CHARTRAND OZHAAWASHKO BINESI Blue Thunderbird MAKWA NIIN DOODAM Charlie passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family in Winnipeg on Saturday, November 8, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Kathy; four children Darrin (Dina), Myrna (Wes), Jason, Charlie-Joe (Penny) and nine grandchildren: Kyle, Monica, Jennifer, Amber, Anthony, Malcolm, Charlie, Katelynne and Zayna. He is also survived by his siblings brothers; Wilson (Paulette), Dennis, Cecil (Ann), Felix (Isabel) and Joseph; sisters; Hazel (Larry), Sophie (Brad), Irene (Earl), Florence (Phillip), Sally, Sheila (Gordon); his uncle Douglas (Donna); Aunt Mary (Micheal); brothers-in-law George (Debralee), Russell (Sandra), Maurice (Josephine), Wayne (Dina), Charlie (Verna); sisters-in-law Lydia (Joe), Georgina (Don), Sandra (Stan), Karen, Loriann (Kurt); and his in-laws Joseph and Sarah Beaulieu as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Wilson Anthony Whitford in May 1994; his mother Marie Whitford-Chartrand; father Andrew Desjarlais; his grandma who raised him Mary Louise Samatt (Chartrand-McIvor); uncles Bernard Chartrand and George Chartrand. As well as his special brother John Laquette. Charlie was born November 23, 1942 and began working at the age of 15 years for CN Railway and later as a farm worker and fisherman. In Winnipeg he worked for Pile Foundations and Subterranean Construction. He was also into carpentry and home renovations. During the last months of his life music became a passion as he sang and recorded about 200 songs, mostly country classics. We will remember his humor, his kindness and love for people around him. A wake will be held on Monday, November 10, 2008 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Joseph and Sarah Beaulieu at Sandy Bay First Nations, Manitoba. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay First Nations with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyil officiating.
