Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEIF HENRY ROHNE Leif Henry Rohne passed away peacefully on November 7, 2008 at the Betel Care Home in Selkirk, MB at the age of 99 years. Leif was born in Inwood, MB in 1909. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Martha Rohne and brothers Frank, Art and Harry. Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 38 years Lorette; brother Spencer; stepson Roy and wife Bunnie Hardy; grandchild Anita (Greg) Brassard and their children Skylar and Brady; grandchild Trevor (Rhonda) Hardy and their daughter Kaelin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Leif was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and fishing. Another of his hobbies was woodworking. In 1937 Leif built one of the first enclosed snow machines powered by an airplane propeller which was used by Dr. Evelyn of Stonewall on his appointed rounds. He later joined the Air Force serving as a mechanic then later as an instructor. When the war was over he went to work at Stonewall Motors for 30 years and when they closed down, he worked at Research Products until his retirement. He and Lorette enjoyed their retirement in Petersfield at their cottage and later moved to Selkirk. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Betel Care Home. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Inwood, MB. Pastor Claire Speary to officiate. Interment to follow in the Inwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Leif's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
