AUDREY ELEANOR BATCHELOR Audrey passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2008 in Duncan, B.C. Audrey was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Lloyd, in 2007 and her son, David, in 2005. She is survived by her daughters: Patricia Kennedy (Ray Bodnar) and Noreen (Ken) Friesen; daughter-in-law Bonnie Batchelor; grandchildren: Eva (Lance) Hemminger, Julie (Brian) Klim, Jeremy (Brenda) Friesen, Robin Friesen, Chase Friesen and Colston Friesen, as well as her great-grandchildren: Adrianna, Amber, Elysse, Caitlyn, Jenna and Liam. She is also survived by her brother Noel and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in 1923 and raised in Baldur, Manitoba. Even though Mom was completely deaf, she moved to Winnipeg at an early age and worked at various jobs at Eatons, The Bay, and the Health Sciences Centre. In 1947 she met Dad and they were married two months later. They moved up north to Shamattawa, on to Sioux Lookout, Keewatin and then Winnipeg in 1960, living for many years in the family home on Churchill Drive. In later years she enjoyed her summer vacation home in St. Laurent, Manitoba and her winter home in New Port Richey in Florida. She loved walking the beaches, collecting sea shells and shark teeth, going out in her paddleboat, and watching the fabulous sunsets. She took pictures of everything and everyone! Mom’s favourite pastime was looking after her flowers. No one could grow an orchid like Mom! She loved to travel and made lifelong friends wherever she went. Her sense of humour and joy of living endeared her to all. Mom really missed Dad after he passed away in 2007 and moved to Duncan, B.C. later that year. The family is very grateful to Mom’s caregivers at Cairnsmore Place in Duncan, B.C. for making her final days as comfortable as possible. Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church, 778 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association of Manitoba, 629 McDermot, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6 or the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
