Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY WILLIAM HOARE Peacefully at home, Roy William Hoare passed away on November 10, 2008 with his wife Gwen at his side. Survived by his children, Ellen (Jim Scarrow), Brenda (Bill Paley), Kris (Kathy), Karla (Terry Dmytryck); stepchildren, Beverley (Ed Smadella), Wendy (Neal Cowie), Lynne Wilkinson (John Gavloski) and Edward Wilkinson. Roy also leaves behind 12 grand-children, extended family in England, and a large adopted family whom he loved dearly, as he was affectionately known to many as Uncle Roy . Dad was born in Winnipeg on January 19, 1925, and moved to Kenora with his parents, Sidney and Edith, in 1930. He was transferred back to Winnipeg in 1961, but maintained the family farm on Redditt Road until his passing. Roy's favourite Kenora activities included gardening, the family camp, contributing to the Kenora Agricultural Society, walking the back 40 , shuffleboard at the Legion, and the occasional win at the annual Cow Pucky Tourney . Roy was a longtime active member of St. George's Anglican Church, Transcona. His favourite jobs included working at Anglican Island and putting together 100 bags of soil at a time at the annual Plant Stand. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Bob Webster, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13 at St. George's Anglican Church, Transcona, 321 Pandora Avenue West. Interment will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14 at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery, Kenora. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Roy's name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or a charity of one's choice. Roy was a kind, compassionate, generous man who was respected by many and loved by all who knew him. He will forever have a place in our hearts.
