Sister Jeanette, brother Norman (Betty), and sister-in-law Madeleine. Also missed by his loyal companion Shadow Padow . Predeceased by his father Joseph, mother Elizabeth and his brother William. Lawrence grew up in the Morris and St. Jean Baptiste area, moved to Winnipeg with his family in 1950. His working life began as a truck driver and at age 18 he began working for Imperial Oil Agency (SW Winnipeg). In 1970, he purchased the Imperial Oil Agency and successfully pursued this venture, loving the challenge and enjoying his association with many respected customers and friends. He truly was a jovial and gifted salesman. After retiring from business, he chose to farm his land in the Grosse Isle area, taking pleasure in the hours spent working there and, of course, the many hours of hunting including camaraderie with friends at his Sugar Shack . Hunting, fishing and curling were hobbies to which he devoted much time and energy. Winter months were enjoyed in our home in Yuma, AZ. Lawrence was age 67, when the debilitating disease Alzheimer's began to creep into his life. Thank you Fenery (home care) for the hours you respectfully spent caring for Mr. Lawrence . You are a gem. Our family sincerely thanks the nurses and staff of the 3rd floor at Foyer Valade Inc. for the care you extended to our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Our most heartfelt thanks and appreciation to dear friends Patricia McPhail Sam and her husband Ross, to sister Jeanette Young and brother Norman Granger and his wife Betty. Your many hours of support and help will never be forgotten. We love you! Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray with viewing one half hour prior to service. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends wish, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. To this day, I still remember Lawrence and think of him often. The fatherly guidance and advice he gave me as a kid from the other side of the tracks has been instrumental throughout my life. He was a great man who I held a great deal of respect for, and a man who shared a lot with me over 4 very special years. RIP Lawrence. (Still smile when I think about you).
