Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACQUELINE HEATHER BLACK Jacquie passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on November 9, 2008 Remaining to forever cherish Jacquie's memory is her husband Curtis Nimchuk, her mother Rose, and her brother Brad. She was predeceased by her father George. Jacquie was a beautiful person. She had an infectious smile and loved to laugh. She was always seeking ways to be happy and to create happiness. Her incredible insight allowed her to focus on the heart of the matter. Her life was enriched by an openness to learn and grow. Everything she did was with all her heart and soul. Those who were touched by her indomitable spirit and passion for living were encouraged to seek an inner strength to overcome life's challenges. She will be missed dearly by her family, her friends, and her co-workers. The following memorial was written by Jacquie. I was born in Winnipeg, January 3, 1964 where I lived some of my youth before moving out to St. Andrews. Coming back to Winnipeg in 1986,1 began my work career. I started working in property management at Winnipeg Housing Rehabilitation in 1990. For the past nine years I have been with Lions Place. I did my job with passion. I cared deeply about my residents and always had a hug for those in need. At home, my garden was my retreat. I loved Danielle Steel novels, garage sales, Martha Stewart, the Home and Garden channel, but most of all, I loved going to the cottage. First, at Sandy Hook then at Winnipeg Beach. I enjoyed all the season's including closing up for the winter. Decorating for the holidays, entertaining, barbecue's, dinner, and fondue parties gave me much pleasure. I belonged to the Romantez Dance Ensemble in my early years, and we attended many festivals around Manitoba. I also taught catechism in the Ukrainian Catholic Church, sang with the New Life Singers, and was president of the Ukrainian Catholic Youth Association. I want to thank all my four legged friends that came to visit me in the hospital. And to the East Kildonan dog walkers, you may see me in spirit, walking in the distance with my Brewster. And even though I had my wonderful dog, I never forgot all the others that remained back at the Humane Society, The City Pound, or at Darcy's Arc. So when you shop for your special friend, I ask that you put something extra into your cart and take it to those that haven't found their home yet. My whole life has been a truly wonderful experience. However the past year's challenges were difficult. But I had the best husband, the best mother, the best brother, and the best friends. I had it all. Life can be short and we must live each day as if it may be our last. Decorate for the seasons, bake cookies, send cards, do a dinner party, make a phone calljust don't wait. And now, should you like to celebrate with me, please come on Friday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. for visitation and devotional. Divine Liturgy will follow on Saturday November 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue. If you are unable to attend, take a friend for coffee or lunch and tell them all the things we don't think of saying until it's too late. I love you all.
