Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDRICK (FRED) PALANUK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, papa, grandpa and uncle. Fred passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Susan on December 31, 2004, his mother Katherine Palanuk (nee Chorney) in 1927 and his father, Steve Palanuk in 1935. He leaves to mourn his sons and daughters-in-law, Garth and Karen; Richard and Jo-Anne; grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrew and Adam; cousin Frank Pisa (Lynda); many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Fred retired over 20 years ago from Canadian Rogers Western after 42 years of dedicated service. After retirement, he and Sue did a little traveling including a trip to Hawaii and a Caribbean cruise. Fred was a self-taught artist, painting with watercolour, acrylics and oil and he was an avid carver. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. Fred's kindness touched us all and he will be greatly missed. A memorial service will take place at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Avenue in Winnipeg on Saturday, November 15 at 10:30 a.m. After the service, a light lunch will be served at the church. Interment, for the immediate family, will follow at a later date. It was Fred's request that in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund.
