Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE MEIKLE (nee DOWNING, nee LAPOINTE) November 21, 1921 - November 11, 2008 Peacefully and surrounded by family after a short and intense illness, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Rose, passed away at Bethesda Hospital. She is now reunited with the loved ones who passed on before her. Her beloved husbands Donald Meikle and Harry Downing, her sister Mary, brothers Hank and Amie, her parents Edouard and Virginie, mother-in-law Amy, daughter Harriet, granddaughter Tracy, grandsons Darren and Andrew, her best friend Grace and numerous beloved pets, especially Panda. She leaves to celebrate her life her sister Norah, son Don (Margo), daughters Alice (Keith), Doreen (Dennis), Mickey (Pierre), Sandra (Stan), Gerri (Fred), Jo-anne (Jim), Marylyn (Goldie), Terri (Denis), Corinne, and Noel (Maurice), 31 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her precious love, her cat, Duke the third. Rose loved to laugh and have fun with her family. She enjoyed playing cards, family gatherings, playing bingo, and of course 5 dice game. Her sharp sense of wit will be missed by us all as well as her bright smile and warm heart. The many warm memories we all have of her will fill our hearts and minds forever. Rose loved animals very much, and regularly donated to the Winnipeg Humane Society and the World Wildlife Fund. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Steinbach Humane Society in her memory, c/o Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. The family would like to thank nurses, Patrick, Wilma, Tammy and especially Ernesto for the compassionate care they provided during this difficult time. We would also like to thank Dr. Trinh for the care she has provided for mom over the past years particularly during this critical time. Thank you to all the friends of the family who came to support us. A special thanks to Michelle for all the extra things she did for us, you're an angel. Funeral services will beheld at the St. Malo Roman Catholic Church in St. Malo, Manitoba on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Prayer service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Father Marcel Chaput will celebrate the funeral mass at 2:00 p.m. The service will terminate at the church. Interment of Rose's cremated remains will take place in Assumption Cemetery, Portage Avenue, Winnipeg at a later date. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements 775-2220
