LEONA WILLEMS (nee WALLEYN) 1920 - 2008 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mom and Grandma, Leona Willems on November 12, 2008 at Deer Lodge Centre. Leona was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Prosper in 2006, her parents Camiel and Martha, sister Gerarda and brothers Antoine and Gerard. To remember her and mourn her loss, she leaves her children Judy, Laura, Bernice (David), Paula (Dan), and Paul (Marlene); her grandchildren, Maureen, Kevin, Christine, Diane, Lisa, Jennell, Laurel, Andreanna, Anthony and Jessalyn. Leona was born in Mariapolis, Manitoba and was raised on the family farm near Greenway. She married Prosper Willems on September 22, 1945. They farmed from 1946 to 1981 first in St. Boniface and then in the Dugald area. After retiring from farming, they moved to Windsor Park. Mom enjoyed playing cards, visiting and cooking for anyone who stopped in. Her smile, generosity and kind heart will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 a.m. from St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 820 Cottonwood Rd. with Father Fred Olds presiding. Interment will take place in the Belgian Sacred Heart Cemetery.
