Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHERESE (TERRY) GRIFFITH Terry passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at Tache Nursing Centre on October 19, 2008. Terry was born May 3, 1919 in Scott, Saskatchewan to Marguerite and Pierre Charles Van Elslande. One of a family of eight children, she spent her early years in Meyronne, Saskatchewan. In the 1940s Terry moved to Winnipeg to train as a nurse at Misericordia Hospital. Here she met John Albert (Al) Griffith; they fell in love and were married on June 26, 1948. Terry took a break from nursing to raise their four young children. She returned to nursing in the late 1960s and enjoyed her time as evening supervisor at Tache Nursing Centre. Terry was a devoted wife and mother with a special gift for making home a place filled with love, laughter and music. She and Al loved to gather with family and friends, especially around the kitchen table with a deck of cards. She had played the piano as a child and enjoyed becoming reacquainted with the instrument as an adult. Terry was very fond of all her grandchildren and was often heard complimenting them on how pretty or handsome they were. Terry was a deeply spiritual woman and was a long-time member of Holy Cross Parish in Norwood. She was blessed with the ability to see the good in all people and encouraged and supported her loved ones in life's challenges. Terry will be lovingly missed by her children, Patricia Griffith and daughter Andrea of Toronto; Joan (Brian) Griffith-Parker and their children Kelsey, Josh, and Lauren of St. Andrews; Don (Heather) Griffith and their children Scott, Sarah, Rebecca, Zach, and Eli of Saskatoon, and Rick Griffith of Winnipeg; and many relatives from the Briere, Griffith and Van Elslande families. Terry was predeceased by her husband Al in 2000 and her siblings Alphonse, Sinai, Joe, Sr. Marie Andrea, Nettie, Pete, and Charlie. Funeral Mass was held on October 22, 2008 at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church. Interment followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. The family thanks the staff at Rimmer House and Tache Nursing Centre for their years of compassionate care for Mom.
