RAYMOND NOEL HILL With family at his bedside, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Raymond Noel Hill on November 11, 2008 at the age of 79. Ray leaves to mourn his passing, his loving and grateful children Raymond (Brenda), Steven (Christine), Anthony, Heather Matthies (David) and Tamara Campo (Charlie), and brothers Clifton and Lawrence. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren Alana (Jason), Amanda, Steven, Spencer, Marina, Brennan, Bryce, Bretton and his great-grandchildren Talia and Tayne, all of whom he adored. Dad was predeceased by his life-long love and pillar of strength, his wife and our mother, Catherine in 1988. Also by his parents, Mabel and Clifford and brother Glen. Born in 1929, Raymond was raised in Dundas, Ont. with his 3 brothers. Dad enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and was proud to serve for 22 years. In 1956, he met and wed Catherine Chimirri and together they raised us with all the love and guidance one could ever hope for. Ultimately settling in Winnipeg, Dad retired from the Service and began a second career with Canada Post, where he was employed for 15 years up until his retirement in 1988. For the past 20 years, he's been a dedicated and loving grandfather and great-grandfather, a Canadian snowbird traveling annually to Clearwater, Florida, a loyal St. James Legion #4 member and an avid Karaoke singer in the St. James area. This summer he took first place in the Winnipeg Fringe Festival Karaoke Competition. Dad has also been blessed with many special friendships. The family would like to note the love and thanks we have for Millie and Betty as well as other friends like Audrey, Pauline, and his favorite Karaoke host Erin. A celebration of Raymond's life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. Interment and reception to follow. Special thanks go to the ICU staff at the Grace Hospital. Donations in Ray's memory can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
