PAMELA (PAM) POPOVITS Suddenly, but peacefully Pam Popovits passed away at home on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the tender age of 43. Remaining to forever cherish Pam's memory are her loving husband Clive and her pride and joy, daughters Tawnee and Tegan. She is also survived by her parents Dave and Jo-Anne Maunder of Brandon; sister Patty, and brothers Tim and Todd (Tammy). She will be greatly missed by her in-laws, Bill and Lola Popovits; and brothers-in-law Geoffrey (Lorie) and Stephen (Kelly). She adored her nieces and nephews (especially as babies) Samantha, Michelle, Shannon, Mathew, Sam, Megan, Nicholas, William, Emma, and the twins Brynn and Kiera. Mom will also be missed by the other 3 females in our family, Gizmo, Sugar and Spice. She was predeceased by mom-in-law Betty Popovits in 2004. Pam was born in Winnipeg on March 20, 1965. She went to school in Winnipeg, grew up in Charleswood, and graduated from Shaftesbury High School in 1983. That same year she followed her parents and moved to Brandon. Pam gained employment at the Brandon General Hospital first as an admitting clerk and then as the day surgery clerk. It was during this time she met her future husband Clive and they were married on July 22, 1989. Tawnee followed in 1991 and then Tegan in 1994. Clive was posted to Winnipeg in 1996, and Pam and the girls followed in 1997, buying a house and settling into St. James. She worked at Superstore for a while before gaining employment with the Federal Public Service at 17 Wing Winnipeg. She started out as a base telephone operator. After several years she moved onto Base Administration. At the time of her passing she was the Medical Referrals Clerk at the Base Hospital. Everyone who knew Pam knew what a great cook she was. She loved gardening (but not the weeding) whether it was her flower, rose, or vegetable garden. She was never afraid to try new and interesting restaurants whether here in Winnipeg or on one of her many travels. She loved to travel and visit new places. Pam especially loved Wisconsin Dells where we had spent the past few summers. She never turned down a casino trip if she could help it. There are many that will miss Pam, too many to mention here. A memorial service for Pam will be held on Wednesday, November 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the Assiniboia Christian Center at 3390 Portage Avenue at Rouge Road. Flowers are graciously declined. Donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or any other charity of ones choice. Though Pam may be gone, there will always be a small piece of her in all of us who were lucky enough to know her.
