ELDON DOUGLAS MCEACHERN 1926 - 2008 It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Eldon McEachern on November 15 at the age of 82. Eldon is survived by his wife Alice; sons, Gary (Anne), Butch (Fay), Allen, Arden and Dean (Julie). Grand-children, Jeff (Bonnie), Michele (Jack), Chad (Lisa), Trish (Jamie), Kirk, Teagan, Matt and Couper; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Grace, Abby and Jaxon. Eldon leaves behind a brother Malcolm (Kathy) and sisters, Margaret Anne (Doyle), Marilyn (Buzz); sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Elvy; brother-in law Bill, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother Jack and wife May, Alice's sister Jean, first wife Marjorie and her siblings, Lawrence, Art and Marie, Paul and Marie, Jim and Betty, Raymond, Lucille and Richard. Eldon was born and raised in Carman and spent his life in agriculture, highlighted by his award as Mr. Manitoba Farmer in 1972. He served on numerous community and business related boards. He taught those closest to him by example - to live with optimism, enjoy - always enjoy, be a decent person, teach your children and grandchildren, be moderate in your desires, and leave some for others, always have respect for your spouse. He had a special love for his children and spent 50 some years working with them daily. His satisfaction was to see things grow and flourish. His true happiness did not come from possessions or fame, it came from the quality of his relationship with the people he loved and respected. Eldon would want all his family and friends to celebrate his life with the memories we all have of him. The family would like to thank the emergency staff of Carman Memorial Hospital, as well as everyone who attended to him at the Carman Legion. According to his wishes, viewing will take place Thursday, November 20 at Doyle's Funeral Home from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carman United Church with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Carman Branch #18, Box 98, Carman, MB R0G 0J0 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Doyle's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. (www.doyleschapels.com)
