MEL GUBERMAN Mel Guberman died peacefully on November 11, 2008. Beloved husband of Pris, and the late Merle Guberman, father of Connie (Kapri) and Joel, stepfather of Maylene (Rael), Joel (Brenda), Larry (Nancy) and Shane (Maryanne). Grandfather of Jonathan, (Alison) Meredith, Sarah, Zachary, Sidura (Jason), Cobi (Nancy) Avital (Morgan) Yaffa, Kyle, Jillian, Mallory, Graham, Leah, Jessica, Josh, Zachary and Adam. Great-grandfather of Boaz and Dahlia. Brother of Cynthia, Barry ( Irene) and the late Zivi and brother-in-law of Jerome and Fran. Mel was a soft-spoken gentle man. High school quarterback, hockey player, golfer. Wireless operator in the RCAF during the Second World War, he was a longtime board member and president of Glendale Golf and Country Club, Chairman of the Board of B'nai B'rith camp and a director of the YMHA. Together with his brother-in-law Jerome Cohen and brother Barry, owned Manta Industries, Economy Textile and Champion Fiber Products. Known for his quiet sense of humour, his scrupulous honesty and his love of family and friends. Mel suffered a paralyzing stroke in 2006 but it failed to dampen his spirit. He rose above the disability with his unfailing sense of humour and Winnipeg stories entertaining the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, the Sharon Home and the Simkin Centre. He will be greatly missed by all.
