Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPIERTJE (PATRICIA) HALBESMA 1910 - 2008 Peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Donwood Personal Care Home at the age of 98 years, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother went to be with her Lord. Piertje is survived by her children Harry and Shirley Halbesma, Halley and John Vannus, Alice and Arie Zevenbergen (Hepworth, ON), Linda Halbesma, and Ron and Ann Halbesma; together with her 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Mom took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Sape (Stanley) in 1995; son Andy in 2006; daughter Anneke in 1942 and grandson Kenneth in 1987. Born in the Netherlands, the family immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Homewood, MB. In 1955 the family moved to Winnipeg. Mom had a special interest in gardening and flower arranging and was active in the Fort Garry Horticultural Society for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and many forms of needlework. She was a longtime member of the Christian Reformed Church and had a very strong faith in her Lord and Saviour. Viewing will be held Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. Interment for family and friends will be held Friday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main St. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Christian Reformed Church, 131 Victoria Ave. W. Our family would like to thank the staff at Donwood for the care and compassion Mom received in the past five years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Donwood Personal Care Home, 171 Donwood Dr., Winnipeg, R2G 0V9.
