META ELSA STREICH (nee DREWLO) Peacefully at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg on November 18, 2008 after a long and fulfilling life, Mom passed away. She was predeceased by her first husband Bill in 1977 and by her three sisters, Olga, Margaret and Alma and her three brothers, Leonard, Arthur and Bert. Left to cherish Mom's memory are her three sons, Jim (Marion), Garry (Margaret) and Herb (Audrey); her precious grandchildren whom she adored, Terry (Ciara), David (Tanya), Shauna (Michael), Susan (Keith), Kevin (Kayleen) and Christine (David). Also very special to Mom were her great-grandchildren, Evan, Miranda, Logan, Lauren, Aidan, Carson, Janelle, Kiana, Ian and Norah. She is also survived by one brother Hammy (Doreen); sisters-in-law, Doris and Tillie and her second husband, Orest Danyluk as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was born in Beausejour on March 6, 1915, the sixth child of eight born to Augusta and Ernst Drewlo. One of Mom's first jobs was at the Beausejour Hotel where she met Bill Streich. They were married on June 20, 1935. They started their life together on the Fillmore farm in Clandeboye, MB where Dad was working. Soon they bought their own farm just north of Clandeboye on Hwy. #9. Son Jim was born in 1940, Garry arrived in 1942 and then Herb in 1946. She took great pride in my three sons . After raising her boys, Mom worked hard at various jobs in Selkirk and Winnipeg. In May of 1967, and within the next 14 months, all three of her boys were married. She now had her three daughters . Mom was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church since 1955. Honourary pallbearers will be Grandma's six grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 6088 PTH 9A, Selkirk, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Box 448, Selkirk, MB R1A 2B3 or to Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, 280 Balderstone Road, West St. Paul, MB R4A 4A6. The family is grateful to all the staff at Middlechurch Home for their care over these past three years and especially for the excellent palliative care. Mom is finally at peace Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
