VLADIMIR BEDNAR 1929 - 2008 Peacefully in the arms of an angel with his family by his side Vladimir passed away at the age of 79 on November 17 at St. Boniface Hospital. Vladimir will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Josephine; son Joe (Brenda); daughters, Gladys (Ron), Marian, Pat (Steve) and Gloria; grandchildren, Lisa, Ryan, Brent, Jared (Brittany), Craig, Michael, Danny, Amanda, Nathan, Samantha and Jamie; and great-grandson Elliot. He is also survived by his brothers, Eddie, Albin, Louis (Annie) and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Maria; in-laws, Joseph and Maria Kiselica; brother Rudy; and sisters-in-law, Gustie, Jolana and Sally. Vladimir was born on September 26, 1929 in Sarluhy, Slovakia. In 1938, he came to Winnipeg with his parents and brothers and settled in Dufresne, MB. He continued to farm after his marriage and raised his family with good country values. While farming, Dad also worked full time for 30 years at Automotive Accessories in Winnipeg. He also volunteered many hours in community and church activities. In retirement, Mom and Dad enjoyed many functions in the Over 50 club. Dad's greatest happiness came from family gatherings so he will be especially missed at family celebrations. A sincere thanks to staff at St. Boniface Hospital who made Dad's journey as comfortable and peaceful as possible. Also thanks to Home Care staff who provided wonderful care and visits to the home. A Celebration of Life will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Vladimir to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave. - Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
