FRANCES AUGUSTINE (nee VATRT) It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, mother-in-law, nana and friend to many. Mom passed away on November 14, 2008 at the Pinawa Hospital. She spent her last days surrounded by family and friends sharing many stories, laughs and tears while enduring her poor health with such strength and dignity. Left to cherish Mom's memory are her daughters, Brenda (Brian) and Jill, daughter-in-law, Karen, and grandsons, Ryan (Karen), Cory (Genny), Craig, Anthony (Kate) and the chosen one Michelle. She also leaves behind sister, Vera, brother, Joe (Cleada), sisters-in-law, Josephine, Pat, Anne and Shirley and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe, son, Tony and several other family members. Mom was born April 15, 1922 at Straze, Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Canada with her parents in the fall of 1937, to settle on the farm in Dufresne, Manitoba. After marrying Dad in 1948, they had business ventures that eventually led them to make their home in Lac du Bonnet. It was Mom's zest for life that gave us her wonderful smile, twinkle in her eye and spunky personality. Through Mom's caring commitment to family, spiritual and community involvement, many lives were touched. Many thanks for the compassionate care extended to Mom by Dr.VanGend and the staff at Pinawa Hospital. According to Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy #1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, with Father Mark officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lac du Bonnet Lions Club, Lions Park Box 818, Lac du Bonnet, MB R0E 1A0 for the development at the former site of the Lakers Water Ski Club. A heart of gold stopped beating Working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Leaves and flowers may wither, The golden sun may set But the hearts that loved you dearly Are the ones that won't forget. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery # 1 Green Acres Lane, (204) 222-3241 Life stories may be shared with friends and family across the globe at www.mem.com
