Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. CLIVE VICTOR GREENWAY March 6, 1937 - November 16, 2008 Clive was born in Gloucester, England, the only son of Kenneth and Ethel Greenway. He obtained a Ph.D. from Cambridge University and accepted his first faculty position at the University of Aberdeen, where he met Anne, his wife of 39 years. Clive and Anne emigrated to Canada in 1969. They then moved to Winnipeg, where Clive joined the faculty of the Department of Pharmacology Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba. Throughout a long and distinguished career as a cardiovascular scientist, he trained numerous graduate students and published important papers in whole animal physiology. He was also awarded for his excellent teaching skills. Clive was appointed Department Head from 1982 to 1989 and again from 1994-1996, before taking an early retirement. Clive was an avid gardener, photographer and stamp collector. He also enjoyed building elaborate model railways and had a special love for the steam-powered trains he grew up with in England. Clive passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at home. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne; his four children Susan, Steven, Karen and Claire; his son-in-law Rob and daughter-in-law Jy Young; and his five grandsons James, Stuart, Miles, Ian and Bruce. Per Clive's wishes, no service or funeral is being held. His ashes will be spread to the four winds and a memorial bench will be dedicated in his memory at the English Gardens in Assiniboine Park. If friends so desire, donations in his name may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
