JOAN DE LANDE (nee DMYTRIW) On November 18, 2008, at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 88, Joan entered peacefully into eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memory, her long time best friend and companion, Robert Levesque, daughter Norah Feldman-DeLande, grandson Matthew (Rosa), and great-grandchildren Aimee (fiancée Chris Dupont) and Christopher. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Marcel (1972); parents Fred and Anastazia; siblings Julia, Mary, John, and Anne. Joan was best known as a successful business woman, owning and operating Delande Memorials until her retirement in 2001. She was a kind and generous person, always believing in giving back to the community and helping people in need. She was a devout member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, holding a special place in her heart for the Basilian Fathers and the Sisters Servant of Mary Immaculate. Joan loved animals, adopting numerous stray cats and dogs as family pets throughout the years. She also owned several racehorses at Assiniboine Downs; her favourite was Is Poppin'. Joan also loved to travel, and especially took pleasure in having taken her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to Disney World. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Monday November 24, 2008 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 also at the Church with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Holy Family Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Holy Family Nursing Home, especially Shirley and Cathy, who were most attentive and compassionate to all of Joan's needs. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends wish, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT. EVERLASTING MEMORY. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
