GARY HILDEBRAND February 27, 1952 November 20, 2008 Gary Hildebrand peacefully passed away at the Riverview Health Centre on Thursday, November 20, 2008 after a brave four-year struggle with ALS. He is survived by his loving wife Bernice and four children Jayne, Chris, Tim, and Jaclyn. He is also mourned by his parents, George and Anne; brothers Don, Dale, and Ray; and sister, Joyce. Gary grew up near Niverville, Manitoba and married Bernice Dyck in 1979. He followed a varied career that revealed his adventurous spirit. In 2000, Gary left Manitoba with his family to serve in school administration with Janz Team Ministries in the Czech Republic and Germany until 2006. Though his life was filled with change, Gary was always deeply motivated by the conviction that relationships with otherswith friends, with family, and with Godare what matter most in life. Gary took great pleasure in exploring the outdoors, and he leaves his family with many wonderful memories of camping and ski trips. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I am shocked to learn that Gary passed away in 2008. I came to know Gary, Bernice and their 4 children when I was persuing graduate studies at University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. Gary used to pick me up from University and we used to have dinner at his place in Niverville. I still remember the wonderful times I had with him when we went to numerous outdoor activities including canoeing in the lakes during fall when leaves were changing color and cross country ski lessons in winter. He was the best friend and mentor I had during my stay in Winnipeg from 1991-1996. I moved back to India after graduation and we used to communicate over email. But we slowly lost contact over time. My deepest condolences to Bernice and the children. May his soul rest in peace. He will be alive forever in our memories. - Posted by: Subhrajyoti Bhar (Friend) on: Oct 02, 2023

  • Garry and Bernice helped me a lot when I was doing my master’s degree at the University of Manitoba. We had a lot of wonderful time together. They were the most wonderful people in the world! Unfortunately, I lost contact with them after my email was hacked. I was googling their names tonight and was shocked to see that Garry had passed away in 2008! Garry was such a wonderful person. I miss him. I hope to send my heartfelt condolences to Bernice and their children though it seems too late. I feel extremely sorry. I hope I’ll have a chance to talk to Bernice on the phone. May Garry’s soul enjoy peace with God. With Love, Jiang Li - Posted by: Jiang Li (Friends) on: Dec 05, 2021
