Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN DAVID CUDDY May 6, 1919 - November 18, 2008 Peacefully in the Victoria General Hospital on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the age of 89 years. John was predeceased by his parents John D. and Pearl M. Cuddy, wife Elizabeth, grandchild Kerri Cuddy and brother-in-law Douglas Renton. He is survived by his son Douglas Ian (Margaret) of Mississauga, daughter Shelagh (Raymond) Girouard, brother Thomas Colin (Beryl) Cuddy, grandchildren Angela (Brian) Charette of Mississauga, Michael Cuddy of Mississauga, Sara (Jason) Hancheruk and Erin Girouard, sister-in-laws Margaret (David) Brown and Mary Renton of Regina, great-grandchildren Cole, Rielyn and Bryce Charette of Mississauga and many special cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves many good friends, neighbours and acquaintances, especially John and Marjorie Jaman, Joan Moore, Diane Olivier and Dr. Howard Reed. Following over four years in Canada and overseas with the R.C.A.F., John was employed with Bird Construction, Manitoba Bridge and Engineering and Sullivan Strong Scott having spent many years in close association with the grain handling industry. He also had many interests that included woodworking, curling, golf (with his very special golf buddies), pool, cards (particularly bridge), cross country skiing, politics, gardening, music, all kinds of history, oil painting, the Jumble, Re-Fit member, very diverse reading material and many charities. At his request, rather than a formal service a gathering of family, friends and neighbours was wanted. It will be held between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Thomson Funeral Home at 669 Broadway in Winnipeg. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. L. DaSilva, staff at Polo Park Hearing, the Emergency / Observation / Floor 4 and 5 staff of the Victoria General Hospital and Security (especially Dawn) at the Waverley for their care and understanding. If desired, donations in his name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Victoria General Hospital Foundation.
