DAVID WALDER It is with great sorrow that the family of David Walder announces his passing on October 29, 2008. David was born in Winnipeg on May 27, 1916. David spent most of his 92 years living in the North End, and was very proud of the rich history of that part of town. He started working at a young age to help support his family. David drove all across Manitoba buying and selling cattle. When David's brother Al bought a pharmacy in St. James, David was asked to join Al as the manager. His memories of working at the pharmacy were some of his happiest moments. When his father became ill, David didn't hesitate to leave his job and care for his father. He spent his free time going to the Grain Exchange Building and dabbling in commodity trading. David also enjoyed buying and selling stamps, badges and coins, and had a special love of Military memorabilia. He loved garage sales and would search out antiques and history books. David had a great sense of humor and loved The Three Stooges. He was a man of great faith, attending Chevra Mishnayes Synagogue regularly for as long as he was able. Family was very important to David, and he especially enjoyed family get-togethers and dinners. Although David had no children of his own, he enjoyed a special relationship with his niece Tara, often referring to her as his favourite niece. David would say that she was like a daughter to him. David will be sadly missed by his brother Al (Bernice), nieces Marilyn Billinkoff (Lorne) and Sharon Walder (Lorne), nephews, Todd and Jeff Koplovich (Heather), niece Tara Morden (Carl), and great-nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff at the Sharon Home for the wonderful care he received for the last few years.
