Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCECIL JOHN (JACK) PEDRICK Cecil John Pedrick passed away November 19, 2008 after sharing 58 precious years with his dearly loved wife Lucy. Cecil John (Jack) was born in the Winnipeg area and lived in this city all his life, with the exception of the Second World War years, during which time he spent five years in Europe with the XII Manitoba Dragoons. On his return to Canada, he became a student at United College (now University of Winnipeg) and spent the summer of 1949, along with fellow students, Geological Survey of Northern Alberta. His independent spirit led him to a career of 35 years Locomotive Engineer with Canadian National Railways. Lucy (Lou) Gevoga and Cecil John (Jack) Pedrick were married February 15, 1950, Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Winnipeg. Jack found gardening very relaxing and was a member of the Canadian Rose Society. He also enjoyed fishing in the Minaki area with Lou's Dad and her Uncle. Jack and Lou were both bookworms , also enjoyed Winnipeg Symphony, Winnipeg Ballet and Manitoba Theatre Centre. They travelled extensively, especially after Jack's retirement. Their travels included all provinces of Canada and the Yukon, all states of the USA, including Hawaii and Alaska, also most countries of Europe including Finland, Ukraine, Russia and Central Asia. They also enjoyed cruising the Panama Canal and Caribbean Islands. They felt so very fortunate to have had 50 wonderful years of marriage before Jack became ill. A memorial service will be held on Sunday November 23, at 1:30 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Lou and Jack's niece and goddaughter Karen's arrival from Calgary will give her aunt much needed assistance, comfort and love. Flowers and cards are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations in Jack's memory may be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation sponsored by XII Manitoba Dragoons.
