ROBERT FRANCIS (FRANK) LEGGETT After a brief stay in hospital in Swan River, Manitoba, Robert Francis (Frank) Leggett was taken from earth to be with his creator at the age of 86. Frank was the son of Thomas George Leggett and Elizabeth (Dieffenbaugh). He was predeceased by his first wife Vera May (Hunt) in 1963, his daughter Joan (Sweetser) in 2001, and his daughter-in-law Jill (Duxbury) in 2007. He is survived by his second wife Theresa (Dolly) Hicks, three sons, Bob, Ray (Susan) and Bev (Shirley), one stepdaughter Lorraine Hicks, four stepsons, Bob Hicks, Larry Hicks, Dennis Hicks and Keith Hicks, their spouses, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Verna of Thief River Falls. Frank was born in the Little Woody District of the Swan River Valley 27 June, 1922. He married his childhood sweetheart and neighbor in 1945 and farmed in the area. In 1963, after a long six year battle, his first wife Vera was taken by the Lord. He married Dolly in 1965 and continued farming until he sold the farm in 1977 and moved to Swan River. He then worked at Hunt Motors until he retired at age 70. Frank was a charter member of the Little Woody Baptist Church from its inception. He taught Sunday school and on the odd occasion took the pulpit on Sunday mornings. He was a deacon for many years. His faith was his strength through all trials and tribulations. He was also a school trustee for the Lancaster School for many years and was on the board of the Swan Valley Agricultural Society. He was proud of his Red Poll cattle and showed them at many fairs and exhibitions. One of his greatest pleasures after he left the farm was fishing on Mondays, summer or in winter. A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Little Woody Baptist Church, followed by interment at the Birchwood Cemetery and a reception back at the church. All grandchildren are the pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Special thanks go to Marion Feere and Naomi Nemez for all they have done for him and us during this time. Also we would like to thank the caregivers at the Heritage Manor and the Swan River Hospital Rehab Ward. Frank has requested that if donations are to be made that they be made to the Gideon Bible Society or a charity of your choice.
