ROBERT (BOB) BROOKER It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert (Bob) Brooker, on November 17, 2008, at the age of 59, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara and son, Stephen; mother, Peggy, sister, Barbara (Warren), brother, Richard and numerous other relatives and many friends. Bob was born in Winnipeg on August 19, 1949. He was unfortunately predeceased by his father at the young age of six. As a child he spent his summers at Long Bull Lake with his Aunt Mary, Uncle Jack and Cousins, Nancy, Chris and Kelly. This was where his deep appreciation for the outdoors began. Bob was educated in Winnipeg where he attended Grant Park High School and the University of Manitoba. He moved to Winnipeg Beach and then West Hawk Lake. He returned to Winnipeg in 1980 when he married. Bob was a self taught carpenter who achieved his Journeyman Carpenter Certification in 1988. He enjoyed working hard and loved the outdoors. His favourite place was his cottage at Beresford Lake in Nopiming Provincial Park. Prior to his illness he was employed as a carpenter at Red River Community College. Thanks to the many friends who visited during Bob's illness, Special thanks to the respite caregivers, Lakech, Hinza, and Julie with whom Bob spent many hours enjoying shared interests in soccer, politics, and family.
