JOSEPHINE KISIEL (MILLER) April 24, 1914 November 20, 2008 It is with sorrow we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandma, great-grandma, stepsister, Aunt and friend on November 20, 2008. She is survived by daughters Lorraine and Beverley (Richard), grandchildren Brent (Patricia), Bonnie (Michael), Kevin (Kara), James, Cheryl, Craig (Jennifer) and Heather, great grandchildren Jamie, Paul, Cheryl, Hannah, Seth, Olivia, Emma, Marcus and Ava, niece Agnes (Victor), step siblings and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her beloved Ralph, son in law Ernie, her four sisters and a brother. Josie immigrated to Canada from Poland in 1917 with her mother and brother. Her childhood was spent in Medika, Manitoba. As a young adult she moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Ralph. They shared 64 wonderful years. Mom was a kind, considerate, generous, energetic, loving woman. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Hers was a life well lived. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing and the outdoors but time spent with immediate and extended family gave her the greatest pleasure. Josie was a retired Hudson's Bay employee. For many years she volunteered at Sokol Hall during the preparations for Folklorama. At the age of 83 she was still canvassing for the residential campaign of many charities. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Special thanks to the Unit 2 staff at Victoria General Hospital and to the WRHA Home Care Program for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke foundation of Manitoba. Mom, thanks for the many cherished memories.
