GERALDINE (GERRY) SALTER With her family by her side Geraldine (Gerry) Salter (nee Newbiggin) wife of 57 years to Orval Salter passed away Saturday, November 22, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay after a courageous battle with cancer. Gerry was born in Winnipeg April 17, 1930. She attended school there and married Orv July 28, 1951. They moved to Thunder Bay (Fort William) in 1960. She was a member of the United Church and the Women's Institute. Her interests were in her family, traveling, camping, fishing, crossword puzzles, curling and she loved swimming in her pool. Gerry was known for her sense of humor and she always enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends. Gerry raised her four children, worked at Zeller's and went back to college at the age of 50, then got a job with Romeo Clara Real Estate. Gerry was predeceased by her oldest son Gary, October 6, 2008. She was also predeceased by her Father, her Mother, twin Gerald Newbiggin, brothers Fred, Bill and George, sisters Pearl McPike, Kathleen Furnival, Ethel Vokey, grandson Andrew Salter, daughter-in-law Diane. Survived by her husband Orval, sons, Ray (Kathy), Ron (Pat), daughter Shelley Olsen (Rob), five grandchildren, Michelle, Dawn, Christopher, Patrick and Karly, and seven great-grandchildren. As per Gerry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating Gerry's life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Wesley United Church.
