DIANA CARRIERE (nee VAN DEN ABEELE) It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of a courageous and incredible human being; absolute class and dignity to the very end. Wife, mom, nana (best friend), sister, sister-in-law, cousin and friend. Diana leaves to mourn her husband of 48 years, Harvey; her children, Darrell (Laurie), Dee-Dee (Shell), Jason (Carrie); grandchildren, Ryland and Kyle, Chase and Cale, and the girls, Zayle and Taja; brother Brian (Coralie) and sister Vonnie. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins here and in Belgium, extended family, friends and neighbours. Always active, loved sports, whether watching or playing, weekends at the lake with family and friends, winters in Texas golfing, walking in the park or lunches with her cousins. We could always count on Mom (Nana) being there cheering us on. She was our #1 fan and supporter. The family would like to thank the Victoria General Hospital Oncology Department for their exceptional care and compassion, and the nurses and doctors on 5 North, as well as the Palliative Care Team. The family would also like to thank family and friends for their phone calls, visits, prayers and support. Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diana's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. As per Diana's wishes, cremation has taken place. Service will be held for family and friends at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint).
