DAVID D. FROESE 1916 2008 On Sunday, November 23, 2008, at his residence, David D. Froese passed away suddenly into the presence of his heavenly father at the age of 92 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Annie of 66 years; six sons, David (Sylvia), Cornie (Ruth), Bob (Catherine), Ken (Dorothy), Ed (Chris), Howard (Lydia); 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Katherine Derksen and one brother-in-law, John Olfert. He was predeceased by one son Henry and two daughters-in-law. David was born in Steinfeld, Southern Russia, and immigrated to Canada in 1926, at the age of 11 with his parents. David and Annie farmed near Sperling, Manitoba until their retirement, and then in 1980 they moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. He enjoyed an active retirement and good health. In 2005 he suffered a severe heart attack and this necessitated a move to the Donwood apartments. Annie and the family would like to thank the Donwood staff for their excellent care, which was so much appreciated. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, November 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the McIvor Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Viewing will take place at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home, 171 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. Interment to follow in Mennonite Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations can be made to Donwood Manor, 171 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2G 0V9 or Family Life Network, 255 Riverton Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2L 0N1.
