ANNE STEFIUK (nee SIBYK) Peacefully, and with the touch of God's hand to guide her, on November 20, 2008 at the Emerson Personal Care Home, at the age of 95 years, Anne Stefiuk flew on the wings of her husband Mike, daughter Joyce Keller, and son Ed Stefiuk, to her eternal resting home. Anne was born in Arbakka, Manitoba on September 8, 1913. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Steve) Hopkins; seven grandchildren, Monty (Lee) Keller, Pam (Tony) Boutet, Michael Keller (Janelle), Chad Stefiuk (Jen), Elyscia (Josh) Doyle, Christopher Hopkins (Jade), and Chelsey Hopkins (Jean-Paul); eight great-grandchildren, Dylan and Nevin Keller, Troy and Tyson Boutet, Kylie and Alexandra Doyle, Adrianna Stefiuk, and Caitllin Ward-Chris Hopkins; son-in-law Bruce Keller and daughter-in-law Chris Stefiuk; plus numerous nieces and nephews, great- nieces and nephews, cousins and great-cousins, and so many dear friends. Anne was predeceased by her husband Mike, son Ed, daughter Joyce Keller, brothers, Mike Ranek, Matt Sibyk, sisters, Victoria Hunt, Mary Solomon, Verna Hassell, Dorothy Geary, and Jenny Sibyk. Anne moved to Dominion City with her husband Mike in 1940, one year after they were married. They moved onto a piece of land north-east of town. After the 1950 flood, they built a new house as their old one was destroyed. Anne had the final say as to where the new house would be located, as she could foresee future floods, and wanted the house far enough away from danger. Anne was very active in the Dominion City UCW, volunteering many hours baking for bake sales and helping the church. She also was a leader for the CGIT for a couple of years, volunteering her time to drive the girls on various camping trips to Rock Lake. Anne was also very active in the curling club with the ladies and mixed curling, and even won a couple of bonspiels. She had a great love for fishing, whether down on the riverbank behind the house, or out at Moose Lake. She also loved to meet with the girls for bingo. Mom had many great traits, but there are two that are really outstanding. The first is how well she could grow a luscious garden, flowers, and plants. She always had an abundantly producing garden, and she could take an almost dead plant and revive it to its natural beauty. (I know this first hand as I brought her a couple of plants that she totally revived for me). Her second great trait was to produce a meal that she only prepared for four, and then when dad brought home guests unannounced, she would miraculously have a meal prepared for ten. How she ever did that is still beyond me. I always thought she had a secret cupboard hidden somewhere, where she got all the food from. Mom's greatest love above all was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved and adored them all unconditionally. She worried constantly about them, making sure they were always alright and were safe and sound. Everyone will remember Anne for her kindness, caring, generosity, and wisdom. You will be missed by all those you have touched. We all love you more than you will ever know. Your Loving Family. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held at the Dominion City United Church on Saturday November 29 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Church Memorial Fund.
